📋 Description

• Serve as a core contributor on the platform, impacting the value Caseware delivers to customers and distribution partners globally • Own key features and architectural improvements end-to-end, from design through build • Collaborate with technical teams to brainstorm and share ideas • Address complex business-critical challenges such as third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization • Define and evolve technical architecture and establish standards for safe, scalable, reusable capabilities • Influence architectural decisions through design reviews, RFCs, and hands-on collaboration • Lead proof-of-concepts informing roadmap and architectural decisions • Partner with QA, Product, Security, and Domain SMEs on observability, reliability, and system quality • Establish and promote engineering standards and best practices • Drive operational excellence by identifying systemic risks and eliminating root causes affecting reliability, performance, or cost • Partner with DevOps and Security on CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and production safeguards • Mentor senior and junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance • Participate in production support as a senior escalation point, leading root cause analysis and preventative improvements • Champion responsible use of AI-assisted development tools across teams • Define standards and guardrails for AI-assisted and agentic tooling across the SDLC • Evaluate and pilot AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows • Mentor engineers on advanced AI-assisted development practices • Own feedback loops and metrics measuring AI-assisted development impact on velocity and quality

🎯 Requirements

• In-depth, extensive experience with server-side Java; viewed as a subject matter expert on all things Java • Minimum of 8 years of experience with core Java • Experience working with both monolith applications and microservices • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) • Knowledge of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB • Experience working in an agile team with developers, testers, and a product owner • Proven experience designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure used by multiple teams • Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, with familiarity around scalability, reliability, security, and cost management • Solid software engineering fundamentals and ability to balance delivery speed with long-term platform health • Proven experience contributing to and owning important architectural decisions • Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction across teams • Strong initiative to improve processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality • Experience with cloud providers beyond AWS (Azure, Google Cloud) is nice to have • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio are nice to have
