📋 Description

• Own attribution of Iranian threat actors, entities, accounts, addresses, and infrastructure end to end • Lead rapid on-chain attribution responses to Iran-related sanctions designations by OFAC or allied authorities • Trace Iranian actors’ fundraising, movement, laundering, and cash-out flows across VASPs, exchanges, mixers, swaps, mining operations, and off-ramps • Produce finished intelligence, including advisory notes, customer and partner briefings, and contributions to flagship publications • Represent Chainalysis as an external expert on Iran-related crypto threats at conferences, panels, press engagements, and partner briefings • Set the Iran collection agenda and feed data requirements into collection processes and priority intelligence requirements • Translate Iranian threat typologies into operational detection guidance for products and customers • Design and tune AI-driven automation to scale analysis and handle cases automation cannot resolve • Raise the team’s Iran and threat-finance tradecraft and collaborate with analysts, SMEs, data science, and engineering

🎯 Requirements

• Deep, demonstrable expertise in Iran, including the IRGC, IRGC-Qods Force, proxy and Shia militant networks, sanctions evasion, illicit finance, and procurement systems • Direct experience tracing Iranian crypto activity on-chain, or deep Iran threat-finance expertise paired with proven blockchain-tracing skills • Background in national security, intelligence, sanctions, counter-threat finance, investigations, law enforcement, military, think-tank research, or private-sector CTF/sanctions work • Strong understanding of Iranian geopolitics, proxy networks, and regional financial flows • Exceptional aptitude, judgment, work ethic, and end-to-end problem-solving track record • Excellent writing and communication skills for analyst, customer, partner, and senior audiences • Ability to build automation and apply AI to scale analytical work • Comfort working with data • Blockchain forensics experience strongly preferred • 5+ years of relevant analytic, intelligence, or threat-finance experience for a Senior hire; 8+ years and recognized domain authority for a Staff hire • Farsi or Arabic language ability is a significant plus • OFAC sanctions, terror-finance designations, or designation-process experience is an additional advantage • Published research or public-speaking record on Iran, sanctions evasion, or crypto threat finance is an additional advantage • Familiarity with Iranian exchange infrastructure, crypto mining as a sanctions-evasion vector, or dual-use procurement networks is an additional advantage
