📋 Description

• Own and drive architectural decisions across the platform, including API design, data modeling, infrastructure, security, and third-party integrations • Define and raise engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and secure coding practices consistent with SOC 2 • Lead technical scoping, risk identification, and estimation for major product initiatives • Drive the AI-powered underwriting roadmap and intelligent automation for cyber-risk assessment • Identify and resolve technical debt while balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform health • Lead, mentor, and develop senior and mid-level engineers through coaching, code reviews, and pairing sessions • Foster psychological safety, continuous learning, and accountability across engineering • Partner with underwriting, actuarial, and product leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions • Partner with the CTO on technical strategy, roadmap priorities, and platform scalability • Lead engineering's contribution to the SOC 2 journey • Manage relationships with external data providers and risk analytics platforms such as KYND • Design and deliver production-grade features for quoting, policy management, broker workflows, and claims integrations • Architect and maintain observable data pipelines for risk assessment and actuarial modeling • Own CI/CD infrastructure, deployment reliability, and platform observability • Ensure the platform scales securely with user volume and product sophistication

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience • At least 3 years in a lead or principal capacity • Proven ownership of complex, production-grade systems end-to-end, from architecture through deployment, scaling, and long-term reliability • Expert command of clean code, SOLID, design patterns, distributed systems, and API-first thinking • Track record of driving architectural decisions and communicating technical strategy clearly to non-engineering stakeholders and executives • Ability to lead, grow, and retain a high-performing engineering team through mentorship, hiring, and cultural leadership • Security-conscious mindset, including data integrity, access control, and compliance • Exceptional written and verbal communication • Intellectual curiosity about technology, data, and risk • Competency with AWS, Docker, Apache Airflow, Neo4j, GraphQL, and CDNs • Proficient understanding of version control best practices using Git • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
