πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance; β€’ Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (ASC 958); β€’ Develop and monitor the annual operating budget in collaboration with senior leadership. β€’ Ensure full compliance with 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance) for all federal awards, including cost principles, administrative requirements, and audit standards; β€’ Develop, maintain, and negotiate the organization's Federal Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement; β€’ Monitor expenditures against federal grant budgets, identify budget deviations, and initiate budget modification requests as needed; β€’ Maintain proper documentation of allowable costs, cost allocations, and matching/in-kind contributions in accordance with grant terms; β€’ Track period of performance for all federal awards and ensure timely drawdowns and closeouts; β€’ Serve as the primary financial liaison to federal program officers and auditors. β€’ Coordinate and manage the organization's annual Single Audit in compliance with the Single Audit Act and 2 CFR Part 200 Subpart F; β€’ Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors; prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor inquiries, and oversee audit fieldwork; β€’ Collaborate with senior leadership to design, implement, and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure reliability of financial data. β€’ Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement;

🎯 Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field; CPA designation strongly preferred β€’ Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, with at least three (3) years in a nonprofit environment with significant federal funding β€’ Demonstrated expertise in federal grant accounting and compliance with 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance) β€’ Extensive experience managing Single Audits and preparing the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) β€’ Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and nonprofit GAAP (ASC 958) β€’ Proficiency with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, MIP Fund Accounting, QuickBooks Nonprofit, or similar) β€’ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling β€’ Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders β€’ Experience overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and audit preparation within a nonprofit environment β€’ Experience supervising accounting or finance staff strongly preferred β€’ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment while managing competing priorities β€’ High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and virtual collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Teams, or similar tools β€’ Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to strong fiscal stewardship β€’ Shares NACDD’s commitment to foster a respectful and supportive work environment.
