Current AI is a global non-profit partnership building a public-option for artificial intelligence focused on public-interest outcomes. The organization mobilizes philanthropic and government collaboration (it says it has over $400M committed and is mobilizing $2. 5B over five years) to rewire the public-interest AI space, coordinate builders worldwide, and push for AI that serves people rather than profit. Current AI positions itself as a bridge between governments, philanthropies, and technology builders to promote AI sovereignty and collective governance for socially beneficial AI.

📋 Description

• Own AI Potluck end to end, including Alpha, the Gap Map, the Alpha Public Router, and future products • Partner with Engineering to translate vision into roadmaps and PRDs • Run the product lifecycle from inception to launch • Take Alpha from testing to everyday use inside partner organisations • Decide the Public Router’s product direction and developer use cases • Set the 2027 roadmap with partners and grantees • Increase partners’ contributions on Alpha • Translate the CEO’s vision into product designs, prioritizing interoperability and ecosystem completeness • Own the product roadmap and present technical options and tradeoffs to leadership • Develop PRDs and user stories and manage the roadmap • Structure workstreams and maintain roadmap, release-note, and partner-communication documentation • Drive high-impact product and feature launches • Align engineering teams and external partners around a common product roadmap • Engage partners, grantees, and the broader technical community to advance ecosystem strategy • Ensure product initiatives are funded and staffed appropriately • Cultivate a builder-oriented culture centered on innovation, execution, and openness • Identify and incubate new projects, prototypes, and product lines addressing gaps in the public-interest AI stack • Set the vision for AI coding-tool use while preserving human judgment in critical product decisions • Help Engineering determine what to build and for whom from first principles

🎯 Requirements

• 10-12+ years of experience in Product Management roles, including AI systems • Experience designing and driving complex technical product roadmaps across distributed teams • Collaborative and cross-functional working style; experienced in partnering with Engineering and Programme teams to surface and amplify impact • Strategic thinker about product ecosystems and platforms • Builder mindset with a bias toward experimentation and shipping • Fluent English with strong public speaking skills and capacity to adapt written communication for different audiences • Experience in open-source ecosystems, research-product organizations or public-interest technology initiatives (nice-to-have) • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute product strategies that shift narrative and build movements (nice-to-have) • French proficiency is a strong plus • Experience in international organisations, foundations, or global advocacy movements (nice-to-have)
