📋 Description

• Build benchmark datasets and evaluation tasks for pathology foundation models • Perform statistical characterisation of control datasets, including trend analysis, confounders, and batch effects across sites and scanners • Curate and quality-control large whole-slide image datasets and associated study metadata • Validate downstream pathology AI models and build supporting evidence • Work directly with pathologists to ground datasets and results in real tissue morphology • Publish and present research • Conduct research within EU-funded partnerships including BIGPICTURE and VICT3R, contributing to the 3Rs in animal research

🎯 Requirements

• A PhD in a quantitative or biomedical field, or equivalent hands-on research experience in industry • Machine learning applied to biomedical data, ideally biomedical imaging • Confidence with scientific literature and ability to turn findings into testable work • Experience across the full research workflow: scientific question, dataset, analysis, validation, and presenting the result • Solid applied statistics and reproducible analysis practice • Python and/or R, plus SQL • Clear scientific communication with pathologists, engineers, and external partners • Eligibility to work in Ireland; Deciphex cannot offer Irish work permits or visa sponsorship • Nice to have: computational pathology or whole-slide imaging experience • Nice to have: preclinical toxicology study design • Nice to have: pathology foundation models or self-supervised learning • Nice to have: SEND/CDISC or GLP familiarity • Nice to have: previous work in EU-funded consortia
