📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable customer-facing REST APIs and backend services using Python • Own core product architecture end-to-end, ensuring high availability, performance, and stringent security standards • Develop high-performance data ingestion, web scraping, and parsing layers to process real-time data • Architect distributed system workflows, including asynchronous processing, queues, pub/sub mechanisms, and event-driven architectures • Manage and optimize relational database models under high load • Collaborate in an agile, product-minded engineering environment • Ship code frequently and drive technical best practices • Work with a UK-based fintech startup to shape, design, and architect compliance and business verification platforms from scratch

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience • Proven track record of owning systems end-to-end in production • 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with Python, or a similar backend language with willingness to work primarily in Python • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, including asynchronous processing, message queues, pub/sub, idempotency, retries, and eventual consistency • Experience designing and versioning clean, developer-friendly RESTful APIs • Advanced knowledge of relational database modeling and query performance • Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL • Comfortable working in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure • Experience with CI/CD deployment pipelines
