📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a backend-focused squad, driving technical quality, delivery velocity, and team wellbeing • Stay hands-on with the Ruby on Rails codebase • Own the technical architecture of your squad’s domain • Partner with product managers and engineering leadership to translate roadmap priorities into clear technical plans • Champion engineering best practices • Identify and introduce AI-augmented workflows to accelerate delivery and reduce toil • Drive continuous improvement: own retrospectives and unblock your team • Collaborate cross-functionally with other EMs and the Head of Engineering

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 2-3 years in an engineering management or technical lead capacity • Deeply hands-on with Ruby on Rails • Strong architecture experience designing and evolving backend systems at scale • Comfortable working on a large Rails monolith • Exposure to agentic AI or LLM tooling • Strong async communicator collaborating effectively with distributed teams • Lead with empathy providing direct feedback and creating psychological safety • Nice to have: experience with microservices, Kafka, or distributed systems in a high-volume SaaS environment • Nice to have: prior experience working in a shipping, logistics, or eCommerce platform
