📋 Description

• Administer and implement database solutions, providing system operational support, administration, problem resolution, and software installations and upgrades • Support Google Cloud Platform and other cloud-based database solutions • Manage enterprise database technology in the cloud, including Microsoft SQL Server and other database platforms • Configure, maintain, and patch database platforms • Monitor database performance, utilization, and capacity • Manage maintenance plans, backups, and automated jobs • Manage database platform security, including Active Directory-integrated accounts in a multi-forest environment • Write and optimize queries and design database schemas • Develop, administer, and optimize Google BigQuery datasets, tables, views, partitioning, clustering, permissions, scheduled queries, and data pipelines • Support BigQuery SQL development, performance tuning, cost optimization, data governance, access controls, and integrations • Advise report writers and deploy reporting solutions or write reports when needed • Use database, cloud, monitoring, DevOps, business intelligence, scripting, and incident-management tools • Apply AI agents and automation tools to improve monitoring, incident triage, knowledge retrieval, documentation, operational workflows, and self-service capabilities • Perform traces and profiling to troubleshoot problems and improve performance • Collaborate with software development teams in Agile/SCRUM environments on database design and query optimization • Manage releases and SQL objects as code using DevOps and version-control tools • Provide required after-hours on-call support • Configure and tune automated alerts • Respond to technical issues from internal users and troubleshoot database and application issues • Identify issue severity and impact and document incidents in the Help Desk tracking system • Monitor databases to ensure service-level agreements are met and alert appropriate IT staff and management about downtime • Partner with IT teams, escalate issues, communicate updates, prioritize open issues, and follow through to resolution • Recreate problems in development environments and create documented workarounds • Assist in training

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in database administration in a cloud-based enterprise environment • Experience across multiple cloud providers and database platforms • Administrative knowledge of Active Directory and database security • Scripting and automation experience • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong customer service and analytical skills • Ability to solve complex problems and implement appropriate solutions • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships • Ability to work independently • Ability to adapt and learn in a fast-paced, changing environment • Administrative experience with at least one of Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS • Experience using or supporting AI agents, copilots, or intelligent automation solutions • Experience with backup technologies for various database platforms • Preferred: 10+ years of experience spanning more than one environment • Experience with Google Cloud database administration, including BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, IAM, performance tuning, cost optimization, and data governance • Linux experience is a plus • Disaster Recovery technologies experience is a plus • MongoDB and other non-Microsoft SQL Server database technologies are a plus • Data warehousing experience is a plus • PowerShell scripting and automation experience is a plus
