📋 Description

• Design, build, and operate AI systems solving business problems across Finom • Move AI solutions from prototype to production, including solution shaping, implementation, quality measurement, and ongoing improvement • Lead a team of AI engineers by setting direction, reviewing designs, pairing, and providing design guidance • Own architecture and document decisions, tradeoffs, and rejected alternatives • Build and ship AI-powered customer and internal solutions using LLMs, RAG, tool calling, workflows, and agentic patterns • Own AI systems end to end: problem framing, implementation, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration • Develop scalable, reliable inference pipelines with attention to latency, cost, security, and observability • Establish evaluation and quality standards, including offline evaluations, online signals, failure analysis, and improvement loops • Design for auditability, model governance, and EU AI Act obligations • Drive AI platform and tooling decisions to improve reuse, speed, and consistency • Partner with solution managers, domain teams, and engineers to integrate AI into real workflows • Shape product roadmaps, negotiate scope and sequencing, and stop unsupported approaches • Work on onboarding, customer support, AI accounting, fraud and risk, document understanding, internal automation, and agentic systems

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience leading a team of engineers, formally or as a tech lead, with responsibility for team delivery • Track record owning the technical direction of a system used by other teams • Experience influencing product or business decisions through technical argument • Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders on commitments and tradeoffs • Experience growing engineers through review, mentoring, or design guidance • Strong ownership mindset and ability to create clarity in ambiguity • Proven experience building and deploying AI systems in production • Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals • Hands-on experience with LLM applications, including RAG, tool use, agents, prompt engineering, evals, structured outputs, guardrails, or fine-tuning • Experience integrating AI systems into backend or product workflows • Ability to design evaluation, monitoring, and continuous improvement loops • Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized deployments • Strong grasp of the fast-moving AI landscape • Fluent English (C1) • Nice-to-have: fintech, financial services, risk, compliance, or operations-heavy experience • Nice-to-have: applied ML beyond LLMs, vector databases, benchmarking, experimentation, startup/founder, or open-source experience • Technologies may include Python, SQL, NoSQL, OpenAI, Anthropic, LangGraph, Hugging Face, Ollama, PyTorch, OpenClaw, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Azure, vector databases, event-driven systems, APIs, and observability tooling
