Future Cleantech Architects is a nonprofit, independent, science-based climate innovation think tank that works to close remaining innovation gaps needed to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. FCA focuses on accelerating research, development, and policy action in hard-to-abate sectors such as energy systems (including long-duration and thermal energy storage and hydrogen), heavy industry (notably cement and high-temperature industrial heat) and transport (aviation and shipping). The organisation produces policy briefs, technical research and convenes high-level research consortia and events (e. g. , the Future Cleantech Festival and technical briefings for policymakers in Brussels and Berlin) to inform and influence R&D priorities and industrial decarbonization pathways. FCA positions itself as independent and science-led, offering publications, case studies, and policy recommendations aimed at fast-tracking cleantech deployment in neglected sectors.

📋 Description

• Technical and organizational management of the subprojects “Carnot battery-based thermal storage technology” and “Constructive efficiency and modular lightweight construction” • Coordination with technical partners • Positioning and further development of analyses for the energy assessment of buildings and for energy management • Preparation of technical interim and final reports under the guidance of the project management • Preparation of technical content for the funding agency • Handling administrative and reporting-related tasks within project reporting • Networking established industry with start-ups and other cleantech stakeholders • Coordination with consortium partners from academia, public institutions and medium-sized enterprises • Embedding FCA’s mission to close innovation gaps within the project • Occasional travel to consortium meetings and on-site appointments in Remscheid, approx. 2–4 times per year

🎯 Requirements

• Completed technical degree, e.g. engineering, energy engineering, building services engineering, or an equivalent qualification • Experience working on and implementing publicly funded projects, ideally including technical reporting to funding agencies • Basic understanding of building energy management: heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic hot water and lighting • Ideally, knowledge of thermal storage technologies and/or constructive building efficiency • Ability to prepare technical content clearly and appropriately for target audiences in interim and final reports • Experience collaborating with industrial companies, SMEs or academic partners is an advantage • Independent, structured way of working • Willingness to take on administrative reporting tasks • Excellent German skills and good English skills, both written and spoken • Residence in Germany is mandatory • Ideally based in North Rhine-Westphalia or willing to make 2–4 business trips per year to Remscheid
