• Manage the development and integration of Community Tourism Enterprises into travel partners’ tour itineraries across East, West, and Southern Africa • Assess project opportunities, prepare budgets, manage implementation, and provide training to community partners • Support implementation of Planeterra’s Climate & Biodiversity Strategy in Africa • Support community engagement and benefits through strategic and corporate partnerships • Steward existing community partnerships with a focus on innovation, capacity building, and sustainable growth • Support the Global Community Tourism Network by developing engagement opportunities, leading monthly partner planning and communication, hosting webinars and networking events, and supporting other engagement formats • Provide regional impact information and updates to the Communications and Development team • Support data management and impact monitoring as requested by the Africa and Middle East Regional Manager • Serve as the primary point of contact and local representative for community partners • Coordinate relationships between Planeterra, travel partners, and community partners
• 3+ years working in the tourism sector in tourism development and/or tourism-related projects • Experience developing tourism product design and/or tourism destination development, with a strong focus on community tourism • Minimum 2 years of project management experience • Financial management experience is an asset • University degree in tourism, international development, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Understanding of the tourism sector in Africa • Exceptional communication and intercultural skills with rural community members • Knowledge to lead and support social enterprises in rural communities • Strong understanding of community development and environmental and social challenges faced by communities • Experience working with destination management representatives, entrepreneurs, and leading stakeholders • High computer literacy • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite (Sheets, Docs), database management, project management, Slack, online collaboration, and social media tools • Capacity to facilitate meetings, training sessions, and other tasks virtually and remotely • Adaptability to collaborate across different time zones and cultures • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills • English language proficiency is mandatory, orally and in writing • Superior organizational skills and excellent attention to detail • Highly motivated, proactive, and collaborative • Proven ability to effectively deliver projects • Ability to pivot and lead through change management • Local or international driver’s license
