📋 Description

• Own the preparation and accuracy of the P&L, cash flow statement, and balance sheet. • Run the monthly close on schedule and ensure the reporting package is consistent, reconciled, and usable by management. • Own inventory and fixed asset accounting, including capitalization and depreciation policies for bikes, batteries, and spare parts. • Maintain the fixed asset register and account for disposals and write-offs. • Reconcile operational inventory records against the general ledger. • Maintain the financial model for internal planning. • Build annual and quarterly budgets with department heads. • Track actual performance against plan and report variances with recommended corrective action. • Build the financial control function, including approval procedures, spend controls, segregation of duties, and controls over cash, receivables, and payables. • Manage in-house accountants and the outsourced accounting firm. • Oversee payroll, multi-state tax registrations and filings, statutory reporting, and audit readiness. • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and payment processing operations. • Work directly with operations, supply chain, and product teams on pricing changes, new city launches, vendor contracts, warehouse and inventory processes, and payment system changes. • Identify and address financial and accounting implications of cross-functional projects at the design stage.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years in accounting and finance, including experience owning a full monthly close as Controller, Head of Finance, or equivalent. • Experience in the US market. • Experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting in a physical business. • Multi-state payroll and tax compliance experience. • Experience managing accounting staff and outsourced providers. • Experience in a company where processes had to be built rather than maintained. • Strong systems skills, including accounting system implementation or migration.
