📋 Description

• Design, build, test, and ship full-stack product features using Ruby on Rails and React • Extend and improve a large, established Rails monolith • Build and refine React components and user-facing experiences for performance, usability, latency, and conversion • Own features across backend, frontend, and data layers • Build product capabilities using LLMs and online AI inference • Develop AI-powered text generation experiences • Design measurable product, funnel, and conversion metrics • Instrument and support experiments to evaluate product changes • Validate solutions through automated testing, traditional testing, AI evaluations, and tracing • Apply engineering and system design principles to create observable, scalable, maintainable, production-ready solutions • Use agentic and AI-assisted software engineering throughout the development lifecycle • Collaborate with Product Managers, designers, and engineers • Prototype and release MVPs to gather feedback and support iterative development • Balance user experience, technical investment, and business objectives • Participate in technical scoping and prioritization and communicate technical complexity to stakeholders

🎯 Requirements

• Senior-level professional software engineering experience with strong full-stack development capabilities • Substantial production experience with Ruby on Rails in large, established monolithic applications • Experience navigating mature Rails codebases, including legacy patterns, broad test suites, and careful database migrations • Strong, current experience building production applications with React • Experience with React component composition, state management, and frontend architecture • Ability to own features end-to-end across backend, frontend, and data layers • Strong product mindset focused on user experience and business outcomes • Experience with measurable funnel, conversion, engagement, or similar product metrics • Experience with experimentation and objective evaluation of results • Strong software quality practices, including automated testing, observability, monitoring, and tracing • Experience with modern CI/CD and container-based deployment environments • Effective use of AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools • Strong understanding of software architecture and system design principles for scalable production applications • Strong written and verbal English communication skills • Ability to collaborate directly with US-based clients and distributed teams operating in US Central Time • Nice to have: experience integrating Anthropic Claude, OpenAI models, or open-weight models • Nice to have: experience with online AI inference or text generation • Nice to have: prompt design, streaming responses, latency management, fallback strategies, and AI output guardrails • Nice to have: AI evals and tracing • Nice to have: A/B testing, experimentation platforms, or feature-flag frameworks • Nice to have: Docker, Kubernetes, and Argo CD • Nice to have: AWS • Nice to have: high-traffic consumer, marketplace, or SaaS products • Nice to have: conversion-sensitive user journeys
