📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers • Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture • Define and execute the technical roadmap for the Rating API domain • Ensure scalability, low latency, and high availability of high-volume APIs • Deliver new rating features, including carrier integrations and advanced pricing models • Partner with Product, Infrastructure, and Carrier teams to align on priorities and improve performance • Drive best practices in API design, monitoring, and system resilience • Own SLAs/SLOs for Rating APIs and ensure operational excellence • Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement • Champion automation, testing, and CI/CD for faster, safer delivery • Streamline processes for managing rate cards and adjacent data to ensure accurate customer rates and correct Shippo charges

🎯 Requirements

• Must have at least 3+ years of hands-on engineering management experience including managing deliverables, participating with product and design to define MVP, managing performance and growth of reporters and managing stakeholders • 9+ years of experience in software developmentCoding experience in backend programming languages (e.g. Python, Go, Java, Ruby) • Experience working with Backend frameworks (e.g. Django, FastAPI) • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns • Experience integrating with APIs that use REST, gRPC, SOAP and other technologies • Experience managing external vendors and integrations with 3rd party APIs • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills • Deep understanding of customer needs and passion for customer success • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
