📋 Description

• Design and build robust backend systems using modern PHP 8.x, strict typing, object-oriented design, and Composer • Develop custom WordPress plugins, hooks, filters, custom post types, and REST APIs • Apply WordPress security and caching practices • Build custom Gutenberg blocks and dynamic editorial interfaces using React and the @wordpress/* package ecosystem • Architect scalable application structures, domain logic, service boundaries, and data models • Assist with migrations from legacy Laravel systems into WordPress • Write and maintain unit and integration tests using PHPUnit and Jest • Work daily with AI agents such as Claude Code by writing prompts, providing context, and reviewing and testing generated code before deployment • Collaborate with engineering teams on international client projects and participate in ceremonies, stand-ups, and collaborative sessions

🎯 Requirements

• Deep expertise in PHP 8.x, including strict typing, enums, readonly properties, match expressions, exceptions, namespaces, and object-oriented API design • Proven experience with WordPress, including WP_Query, REST API, multisite, WP-CLI, caching, security practices, custom taxonomies, and metadata • Strong proficiency building dynamic/server-rendered Gutenberg blocks • Proficiency with React, asynchronous JavaScript, ES modules, and webpack-based environments • Experience with domain logic, dependency injection, maintainable data models, and scalable application architecture • Hands-on experience with PHPUnit, Jest, data providers, and the Arrange / Act / Assert testing pattern • Deep understanding of HTTP, SQL, browser/server behavior, input sanitization, output escaping, prepared queries, and authentication • Comfort with Docker-based local environments, CLI tooling, advanced Git workflows, rebasing, conflict resolution, pull requests, and code reviews • Practical experience using AI coding assistants and critically reviewing, testing, and guiding generated output • Consistent overlap with Central Time (CT) and standard Austin business hours • English required for interviews, documentation, and daily communication • Nice-to-have: WordPress VIP, edge cache, VIP Search / Elasticsearch, vip-cli, schema.org / JSON-LD, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals optimization, TypeScript, Playwright, large-scale content migrations, Laravel, Symfony, or another modern PHP framework
