📋 Description

• Support day-to-day German accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping • Partner with external accounting providers and review local accounting deliverables • Prepare and post journal entries (revenue, accruals, prepaids, payroll, invoices, intercompany, etc.) • Support and improve month-end close and reconciliations (bank, AP/AR, etc.) • Help manage and ensure compliance with: • German payroll • Tax and compliance requirements • Statutory reporting requirements • Ensure clear documentation and maintain internal controls in a fast-moving startup environment • Support German GAAP year-end reporting and liaise with auditors and advisors as needed • Act as the primary point of contact for limited office operations

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience (startup/scale-up experience strongly preferred) • Background as a Senior Accountant / Buchhalter • Strong understanding of German GAAP, German charts of accounts (SKR 03 or SKR 04), and double-entry bookkeeping (debits & credits) • Use AI tools to streamline finance tasks, including DATEV and Excel • Practical experience with accounting software/ERP (posting journals, reconciliations, and close processes) and hands-on accounting execution • DATEV experience required; NetSuite, Everest, and/or QuickBooks experience is a plus • Experience with systems implementations is a plus • Familiarity with German payroll, tax, and compliance topics (hands-on or managing external partners) — VAT, OSS, corporate & trade tax, withholding tax, etc. • Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes from scratch • Fluency in German (C1) and strong English skills (B2–C1) for reading and writing • Nice to have: experience as a Steuerfachangestellter/in (tax clerk) and/or Big Four experience
