📋 Description

• Lead the general accounting function for headquarters, ensuring accurate and timely financial records and reporting • Supervise accounting activities across Malaysia, Thailand, and Mexico, ensuring consistency and compliance with organizational standards • Develop and prepare accounting and financial reports to support internal monitoring and decision-making • Lead the annual external audit process, coordinating requirements, documentation, and communication with external auditors • Lead tax compliance across the organization, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of applicable tax obligations • Plan and conduct internal audits to strengthen financial controls, identify risks, and support compliance across the organization • Maintain and continuously improve financial control systems, including general accounting, investment accounting, subgranting, grantmaking, tax-exempt compliance, banking, payroll, and benefits • Work directly with headquarters and closely with Asylum Access Mexico, Asylum Access Thailand, and Asylum Access Malaysia staff

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting • CPA certification or equivalent • Bilingual in Spanish and English • Excel proficiency • 5 years related accounting experience in private corporation/public charity settings • Experience using a computerized accounting system, specifically Microsoft Dynamics • Solid knowledge of MS Office applications • Strong time management and organizational skills • Ability to prioritize work effectively and adapt to multiple demands • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing • Strong initiative and ability to take ownership of projects, manage multiple deadlines, and work with attention to detail and accuracy • Cultural competence and intelligence, with ability to work in a diverse, multicultural workforce • Ability to work individually and collaboratively across organizational functions and levels and with external partners • Ability to adapt and respect other cultures and languages • Prior experience working with refugee-led organizations or involvement in community-led initiatives is an asset
