📋 Description

• Perform forensic investigations and provide consultation for clients throughout the US • Conduct field observations, testing, and data collection, including steep-roof inspections • Prepare technical reports detailing observations, testing results, research, opinions, and recommendations • Work with building departments to determine repair directives • Research and develop technical topics for publication • Meet with and present to peers and clients • Engage in client-relations business development and marketing • Evaluate residential, commercial, and industrial building roofing, fenestration, foundations, and envelopes • Assess hazards and resulting damage • Evaluate design and construction defects • Conduct premises liability evaluations • Serve as an expert witness • Travel regularly to local and regional project sites

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school • PE or SE license • Highly qualified and experienced EI/EITs are considered • 0 to 5 years of experience as a forensic engineer for the mid-level position • Experience and/or willingness to learn climbing moderate to steep-pitched roofs using hand rope assist, rope-and-harness, aerial lifts, etc. • Willingness to work at heights • Familiarity with modern building codes and industry standards • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills • Willingness to travel and conduct site inspections • Valid driver’s license • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times • Ability to work in hot and cold environments, indoors and outdoors • Ability to access and work on pitched roofs, scaffolds, lifts, elevated surfaces, attics, and crawlspaces with appropriate personal protection • Ability to lift, transport, set up, and utilize an extension ladder • Physical ability to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
