📋 Description

• Design and ship AI agent systems end to end, from early experiments through production • Own the data access layer, retrieval strategy, and integrations with Kota’s infrastructure, including Metabase and internal APIs • Build and own an evaluation framework with golden datasets, regression harnesses, and retrieval-versus-generation failure analysis • Address prompt injection, data boundary violations, and silent failure modes in a regulated context • Set the technical direction for AI at Kota and influence agent architecture and product opportunities • Work across the AI pod and Platform team to surface AI opportunities • Collaborate with the AI Product Lead • Improve engineering practice through peer review and documentation • Expand the role and shape the early AI pod as its remit grows

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience • At least 2 years working directly on LLM or AI agent systems in production • Strong grasp of agent architecture, including context management, tool use, retrieval strategies, and prompt design • Ability to make and defend tradeoffs between agent architecture approaches • Experience building evaluation frameworks, including golden datasets, regression testing, and retrieval-versus-generation failure analysis • Comfort working across the stack • Clear written communication and ability to explain technical decisions precisely to non-technical stakeholders • Background in fintech, payroll, HR tech, or benefits is a strong plus • Experience with AWS, Azure, or the broader Microsoft ecosystem is a strong plus • Experience generating synthetic evaluation data is a strong plus • Experience in early-stage or scale-up environments is a strong plus • Ability to work +/- 4 hours GMT for collaboration • Right to work in the country of residence without visa sponsorship
