📋 Description

• Build and maintain InDesign automation with ExtendScript and/or UXP (.idjs) to generate print-ready layouts from structured content • Debug and stabilize production scripts, including root-causing intermittent text-sizing and layout errors • Work with InDesign Server and headless rendering at production scale • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to reduce manual layout work and reliance on external scripting vendors • Pick up backend tickets alongside the engineering team and grow backend development skills • Communicate clearly and proactively in a fully remote, US-based team environment

🎯 Requirements

• Strong, hands-on Adobe InDesign scripting experience with ExtendScript and/or UXP (.idjs) • Genuine coding aptitude and motivation to grow into backend development • Experience with Ruby, Python, Java, or a similar backend language • Comfort with Git and PR-based code review • Demonstrated ability to debug and troubleshoot others’ automation • Ability to work independently with unfamiliar proprietary APIs/DOMs and limited documentation • Advanced to fluent English (C1–C2), written and spoken • Central Time zone overlap • Preferred: InDesign Server/headless production experience, including SOAP job queues and automated rendering pipelines • Preferred: Production-scale automation experience with IDML generation or data-merge • Preferred: Print production knowledge including CMYK, bleed, PDF/X, and preflight • Preferred: Background job queue familiarity such as Sidekiq or SOLID Queue • Must not be limited to manual graphic/DTP design; backend coding aptitude or experience is required
