📋 Description

• Lead cross-functional delivery teams of 4–5 engineers, reporting to the Head of Engineering • Ensure the team ships reliably, grows professionally, and avoids becoming a bottleneck as LawnStarter scales • Own people development through concrete growth plans for every individual contributor • Ensure delivery cadence and predictable quality by surfacing risk early, managing scope, and meeting commitments • Address team conflict directly and manage underperformance through a clear process • Protect and develop top performers • Partner with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to make decisions and avoid delivery stalls • Provide technical direction on system design and architectural risks without becoming overly hands-on • Introduce AI tools and workflows for code review, documentation, sprint planning, and debugging • Develop people leadership depth, manage distributed teams across time zones, improve delivery consistency, orchestrate roadmap-to-release delivery, and increase AI-enabled throughput

🎯 Requirements

• Deep, hands-on AI workflow experience, including tools such as Claude, Claude Code, Copilot, or AI-assisted review • Experience building prompts, accelerating code review, improving ticket quality, or leading AI adoption in development workflows • Concrete experience creating career growth plans and managing difficult performance conversations through a structured process • Experience leading fully remote teams as the default operating model • Ability to build trust, run async decision-making, and support distributed engineers • Direct and timely conflict-resolution experience • Ability to use velocity, retention risk, and individual-contributor growth metrics to make decisions • Technical credibility through code reviews, architectural input, and debugging support • Ability to delegate, coach engineers toward decisions, and avoid becoming a bottleneck • Commitment to people leadership as a primary craft • Proactive risk management rather than reactive firefighting
