📋 Description

• Source products and suppliers end-to-end for portfolio companies, emphasizing China plus the USA and other regions • Own manufacturer relationships, production schedules, quality standards, lead times, and issue resolution • Distinguish factories from trading companies and negotiate directly at the source • Drive new SKU launches through product feasibility, sampling, packaging sourcing, and costing • Negotiate supplier pricing, payment terms, deposits, balances, and milestones • Run quality control and QA with inspection partners • Coordinate product safety and regulatory compliance testing, certifications, and documentation • Manage international freight, logistics, import coordination, customs clearance, and warehouse delivery • Drive margin improvement through packaging optimization, vendor negotiation, re-sourcing, and cost-down initiatives • Build a vetted supplier network and reusable sourcing playbooks across the portfolio • Use AI, automation, and modern tooling to improve sourcing, quoting, and supplier management • Collaborate with Supply Chain, product, marketing, CX, and Operations Engineering teams • Work as the sourcing subject matter expert across multiple venture-studio companies and DTC e-commerce brands

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in product sourcing, procurement, or manufacturing • Experience supporting DTC e-commerce, consumer goods, or high-growth brands ideally • Deep hands-on experience sourcing from Chinese manufacturers • Experience using Alibaba and/or 1688 • Understanding of major Chinese manufacturing ecosystems and supplier landscape • Track record finding, vetting, and qualifying legitimate Chinese manufacturers • Existing network of Chinese factories and suppliers or ability to build one quickly • Experience with RFQs and negotiations covering pricing, MOQs, Incoterms, payment terms, lead times, packaging, tooling, and production schedules • Experience calculating landed costs, including freight, HTS classification, duty rates, customs costs, and import expenses • Experience with freight forwarders and customs brokers • Familiarity with U.S. regulatory requirements and compliance validation • Experience with purchase orders, supplier contracts, procurement processes, and supplier agreements • Experience with quality control, product testing, supplier audits, inspections, defect management, and corrective actions • Experience coordinating international freight and customs clearance • Experience taking products from concept through sourcing, sampling, production, and launch • Strong supplier negotiation and relationship-management skills • Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills • Ability to manage multiple products, suppliers, and portfolio companies simultaneously • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills • Cultural fluency working with Chinese manufacturers and US-based stakeholders • Ability to work full-time with at least 4 hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern Time • Comfort operating across CST (UTC+8) when needed • Occasional travel to manufacturing sites may be required, less than 15% of the time • Extreme grit, integrity, determination, resilience, and resourcefulness • Mandarin proficiency, China travel, venture-studio experience, product development, industrial design, diverse-category sourcing, AI tools, and subscription-business experience are nice to have
