📋 Description

• The COBOL Developer will work on the development and integration of services in a legacy Mainframe environment. Key responsibilities: • Operate and monitor batch workflows in Control-M (Mainframe), ensuring SLA compliance • Respond quickly to abends/failures in workflows: analyze, fix, release and reprocess/restart • Perform quick code inspections to identify root causes and execution parameters • Make changes to JCLs and COBOL/DB2 programs (steps, DDs, parameters, datasets, conditionals, return codes) • Adjust and validate SYSINs (job control cards/execution parameters) • Make changes and perform analysis on COBOL programs/JCLs following the change process (when applicable)

🎯 Requirements

• Solid experience with Control-M Mainframe (dependencies, rerun/restart, troubleshooting) • Proficiency in JCL and SYSIN • Experience analyzing failures and working in TSO/ISPF environment • Practical knowledge of batch processing: return codes/steps, datasets (e.g., GDG/VSAM depending on client context) • Availability to work late afternoon or overnight shifts and weekends (on a rota) • Differentials: Maintenance and analysis in COBOL/DB2 • Knowledge of Oracle databases • Familiarity with utilities (e.g., SORT, IDCAMS) • Experience with support tools • Experience with change management tools (e.g., Changeman) • Strong experience in online (transaction) environments • Proficiency with CICS and COBOL/DB2 • Availability to work weekends (on a rota) • Behavioral skills and competencies: sense of urgency and focus on quickly restoring batch workflows • Analytical thinking and objective investigation (rapid diagnosis) • Organization and discipline to record actions and evidence (traceability) • Clear communication with development, business and operations teams • Good teamwork skills • Academic background - completed or in progress in IT-related courses
