• Responsibility for the departments of operational planning, personnel scheduling/dispatch, and operations control centers • Ensuring a functioning and safe railway operation in accordance with the service contract • Responsible for directing and supervising employees in the dispatch of resources (operational resources such as rolling stock, personnel) • Technical and disciplinary leadership of the operational planning and control division • Ensuring the tasks and obligations for the area arising from the service contract • Responsible for collaboration within the railway sector and for coordination between railway infrastructure companies and railway undertakings • Leading and developing employees with a focus on teamwork and personnel development • Optimizing and further developing the organization and processes with regard to reliability, safety, customer orientation and efficiency • Monitoring data quality for performance billing and responsibility for operational reporting • Cross-department communication to ensure corporate objectives and high passenger satisfaction • Maintaining direct contact with operational staff, e.g. visits to control offices, accompanying staff on trains • Compliance with processes according to the SMS (Safety Management System) • Consideration of human and organizational factors
• Degree in transport economics/transportation management or a comparable qualification, or relevant vocational training in a railway operations role or in a commercial field • Many years of professional experience with management responsibility in railway operations • Excellent knowledge of the applicable railway operational regulations and legislation • Very good knowledge of operational processes in railway operations • Knowledge of human and organizational factors and of improving safety culture • Confident use of common PC programs (MS Office, e-mail, internet) • Knowledge of IVU.rail, Interautomation, LeiDis, DB NetzCockpit desirable • Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken • Independent working style, autonomous decision-making and a strong customer- and service-orientation • Confident and persuasive appearance in public as well as above-average commitment and social skills
