📋 Description

• Partner with the Senior Associate Director of Development for Latin America, TNC Relationship Managers and fundraising leaders to discover, cultivate, solicit and steward donors for major or principal gifts • Contribute to Latin America’s conservation and fundraising goals, specifically TNC’s work in Brazil • Apply complex donor-strategy principles and support Relationship Managers and TNC leadership in making asks for global and local priorities • Work across chapters and programs and manage a referral network • Staff Latin America leadership on trips • Lead diverse activities, project outcomes and initiate solutions to improve effectiveness • Liaise with regional, global, development, conservation, public-sector and private-sector teams • Assist in achieving the US $40M FY27 “raised for” goal and support the goal of doubling philanthropic revenue by 2030 • Engage Relationship Managers, Business Units, Divisions and Regions in discovery, cultivation and stewardship of international prospects and donors with capacity above US $100,000, especially for Brazil • Support donor and leadership engagement opportunities in Brazil, including donor meetings, regional trips, in-person events and leadership visits • Manage a portfolio of 25 to 50 Relationship Managers • Complete 25 to 50 visits with Relationship Managers and 75 to 150 moves annually • Set and meet fundraising objectives, evaluate results and develop corrective strategies • Project manage internal review processes for international solicitations and gifts at local, regional and global levels • Draft personalized donor correspondence, proposals, stewardship notes and reports with the Donor Communications team • Support the design and implementation of collaborative, complex and diversified fundraising projects • Coordinate other development professionals’ work and ensure accountability • Use TNC’s donor database to update information, produce reports, analyze data and track and cultivate donors • Persuasively convey TNC’s mission to diverse groups • Reinforce travel and event policies and procedures • Ensure compliance with TNC policies, procedures and donor, legal and IRS requirements • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with major and principal gift donors, volunteers and staff • Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $100,000 or more is a plus • Experience designing and implementing fundraising strategies, including cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies • Strong project management skills, including coordinating activities led by others and managing deadlines • Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy’s work • Experience, coursework, or other training in current and evolving trends in charitable giving, particularly in capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving • Experience and ability to work across departments and multiple teams • Demonstrated experience using listening, diplomacy, and tact to build strong relationships and motivate donors and volunteers • Proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive agreements • Experience generating reports and analyzing and interpreting data • Familiarity with the Latin America Region • Fluency in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plus • Multicultural or cross-cultural experience • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally frequently and on short notice, work long hours and weekends as needed • Successful applicant must meet The Nature Conservancy’s background screening requirements
