📋 Description

• Serve as the primary finance and accounting focal point for Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala business units • Provide guidance on accounting treatment, financial compliance requirements, and TNC financial policies • Identify and resolve complex accounting and compliance issues across multiple jurisdictions • Ensure compliance with TNC policies, financial standards, legal requirements, and segregation of duties • Review month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, accounting records, and supporting documentation • Supervise cash management, banking operations, and timely bank reconciliations • Supervise accounts payable and support accounts receivable management • Coordinate and review accounting, local tax, statutory compliance, and regulatory deliverables with external advisors and accounting service providers • Ensure external accounting information is complete, accurate, supported, and aligned with TNC policies • Lead fiscal year-end close processes for responsible business units • Oversee statutory filings, certifications, and financial regulatory requirements • Perform financial analysis, identify risks, and recommend next steps • Interpret accounting guidance, organizational policies, and local statutory requirements • Recommend solutions to accounting, payroll, tax, and compliance matters • Escalate significant financial, compliance, or operational risks • Monitor changes in accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements and recommend improvements or corrective actions • Lead coordination of external audits and statutory reviews and resolve findings • Support financial report preparation and coordinate payroll processes • Support internal and external audits • Supervise one or more staff • Follow TNC’s Code of Conduct and demonstrate its values

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination • Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices, and regulations • Experience with applicable Mexican legal, regulatory, tax, labor, and statutory requirements • Experience using automated accounting systems • Working knowledge of internal controls, segregation of duties, and financial documentation requirements • Experience managing or overseeing accounts payable, provider payments, and bank reconciliation processes • Experience leading, supervising, and developing staff, including coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and guidance • Professional proficiency in both Spanish and English preferred • Experience designing processes to assure accurate and on-time provider payments • Excellent organizational skills, including establishing priorities and meeting deadlines • Non-profit accounting experience is a plus • Successful applicant must meet The Nature Conservancy's background screening requirements
