📋 Description

• Conduct an inception review of NP internal guidance, engagement protocols, training materials, field tools and relevant external literature • Map the existing training and methodological landscape and produce a complementarity and value-add analysis • Consult NP field teams through remote interviews and/or focus groups across representative country programmes • Capture field-tested practice, engagement protocols, case examples, dilemmas and lessons learned • Validate draft course content with NP field teams • Design the course architecture, including learning pathway, modules, sessions, learning objectives, estimated learning time, sequencing and prerequisites • Develop course modules on actor analysis, preparation, mandate, red lines, principled positioning, multi-track sequencing, pressure and coercion, team safety, duty of care, confidentiality, inclusion, community-led dialogue, handover, follow-up and accountability • Design knowledge checks, end-of-module quizzes, a final assessment and completion or certification criteria • Produce an inception note and annotated course outline • Produce a complementarity and value-add analysis with positioning recommendations • Produce a consultation report with findings and case material • Produce a draft course package with modules, content, scenario exercises and assessments • Conduct a validation session and prepare a consolidated feedback matrix • Deliver the final course package, digitalisation guidance note and resource list • Submit all deliverables in English and editable formats • Report to the UCP Academy Manager, attend an inception check-in and weekly progress calls, and obtain written approval for deliverables • Handle case material under NP confidentiality and do-no-harm requirements, anonymising or clearing sensitive examples before use

🎯 Requirements

• Advanced university degree in peace and conflict studies, international relations, international humanitarian law, education or a related field • Demonstrated, substantive experience in unarmed civilian protection, including direct engagement with armed actors and authorities, protective presence and deterrence and community-based protection • Prior work with or on NP or comparable UCP actors is a strong asset • Familiarity with methodologies and training offers of CCHN / Frontline Negotiations, Geneva Call, the ICRC, the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, or comparable organisations • At least five years’ experience designing adult learning curricula, preferably for online or blended delivery, including scenario- or simulation-based learning on sensitive and high-risk subject matter • Ability to translate field practice into accessible learning content • Excellent written English • French, Spanish or Arabic is an asset • Ability to work independently, remotely and across multiple time zones • Ability to handle sensitive operational information with discretion • CV, short technical proposal, relevant work sample and all-inclusive daily rate required for application • Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a technical assignment and interview • Satisfactory references and appropriate screening checks may be required
