• Provide programmatic, research, and interagency coordination support for foreign policy development, alignment, and implementation related to Haiti. • Work closely with U.S. Government stakeholders and external partners to advance U.S. policy objectives related to Haiti. • Develop and maintain an understanding of key stakeholders related to Haiti, including diaspora groups, NGOs and advocacy organizations, members of Congress, and foreign governments (e.g., Canada and France). • Draft briefing memos and talking points, often on short notice, to prepare principals for Haiti-related meetings and to keep senior State Department leadership informed of developments, assimilating inputs from U.S. Government colleagues. • Assist in preparations for complex major meetings, such as international partners meetings on Haiti, including coordination, logistical planning, and policy analysis and recommendations. • Participate in interagency committees and external stakeholder meetings, including classified meetings up to the Secret level; brief team members on outcomes and prepare written read-outs as requested. • Coordinate the production, editing, and clearance of mandated annual reports, such as the Human Rights Report and International Religious Freedom Report, as needed. • Contribute to broader section tasks and special projects supporting Haiti policy implementation, as assigned.
• Secondary education plus at least two years of college-level coursework in a relevant field (international relations, international development, political science, economics, Latin American or Caribbean studies, or related discipline). • Minimum of four years of combined work experience in international affairs (two years with a Bachelor’s degree), such as work with U.S. embassies or volunteer organizations abroad, foreign policy NGOs, or think tanks in the U.S. or overseas. A relevant graduate degree may substitute for two years of experience. • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in international relations, international development, political science, economics, Latin American or Caribbean studies, or a closely related field preferred. • Recommended: Minimum two years of college in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience working in international relations or related areas. • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) to create professional documents and communicate with colleagues. • Strong English verbal and written communication skills, including drafting, editing, and verbal presentation. • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to formulate a clear point of view on complex issues and produce concise, well-written narratives. • Strong attention to detail. • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, persuasion, and ability to work effectively with individuals at all professional levels and from diverse backgrounds. • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, coordinate activities in multiple locations, and work effectively in a multicultural and virtual team environment. • Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and coordinate daily requirements with minimal supervision. • Basic understanding of U.S. federal government agencies and stakeholders. • Experience promoting objectives related to implementing U.S. policy in a multi-stakeholder environment.
