📋 Description

• Set engineering strategy and direction for the Digital Services domain • Translate business and product priorities into technical and organisational outcomes • Lead, coach and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders • Build leadership capability, succession and team autonomy • Strengthen delivery across a complex portfolio through operating rhythms, accountability and visibility • Shape team structures, ownership, capabilities, leadership capacity and future hiring needs • Drive technical and operational excellence across architecture, reliability, security, observability, performance and maintainability • Partner with Product, Architecture, Operations and senior leadership • Navigate ambiguity, competing priorities and cross-team dependencies • Make trade-offs between customer value, speed, quality, risk and sustainability • Use engineering, operational and people metrics to identify risks and drive continuous improvement

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience operating at Engineering Director level • Experience leading Engineering Managers and multiple software teams • Strong track record of scaling engineering organisations and developing managers into autonomous leaders • Strategic thinking combined with sufficient technical and delivery depth • Strong foundations in architecture, system design, reliability, security and operational excellence • Experience translating business and product strategy into engineering direction • Experience improving delivery and engineering effectiveness through operating mechanisms, data and leadership • Organisational design and people leadership capability, including coaching, performance management, succession planning, hiring and capability development • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex or ambiguous decisions • Experience in payments, fintech, regulated or high-availability environments highly advantageous • Ability to pass credit, education, sanction and enforcement, employment, criminal and ID checks • Experience in a regulated environment is requested in the application form • Ability to work as an independent contractor and issue invoices • Legal authorisation to work in the current country of residence without visa sponsorship or additional work authorisation
