📋 Description

• Develop a deep understanding of Paymentology’s business, products and regulatory landscape to deliver contextual and impactful legal support • Act as the primary legal advisor for assigned legal matters and lead legal delivery within the area of responsibility • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and partner with supported business functions • Provide legal support throughout commercial and business initiatives • Advise on contract enforceability, licensing, regulatory compliance and cross-border legal risks • Lead drafting, negotiation and execution of complex commercial agreements with customers, partners, suppliers and strategic counterparties • Provide legal guidance to the People team on employment law matters • Align legal advice with business objectives, enabling growth and managing legal risk • Independently manage complex, cross-functional legal matters under the Legal and Compliance Director • Coach and mentor Legal team members and manage direct reports where applicable • Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies • Improve internal legal frameworks, contract templates and best practices • Collaborate with external counsel and communicate advice to internal stakeholders • Conduct legal and regulatory research across various jurisdictions • Analyse and simplify complex laws and regulations into actionable legal opinions and memoranda • Assess the impact of legal and regulatory developments on the business • Contribute to knowledge-sharing and training • Provide internal legal training and briefings on research topics and regulatory developments

🎯 Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with 6–8 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law • Strong background in contract negotiation and advisory • Experience ideally in financial services, fintech or technology-driven companies • Strong legal research and analytical skills • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying regulations and legislation • Excellent drafting ability for contracts, legal opinions, internal memoranda and business-facing guidance • Good understanding of commercial legal risk and pragmatic, solutions-focused advice • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English • Ability to deliver under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, remote-first environment • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision across multiple jurisdictions and time zones • Ability to explain complex legal and regulatory issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders • Proactive and organised approach to improving legal processes, templates and ways of working • Law degree and legal qualification, such as bar admission, attorney admission, solicitor qualification or equivalent • Experience acting as the primary legal contact for business stakeholders • Experience independently managing high-value or strategically significant commercial negotiations • Demonstrated experience in commercial contracts, regulatory issues and cross-border legal considerations • Experience interpreting external legal advice and turning it into internal guidance
