📋 Description

• Steer initiatives delivering Planet’s growing constellation business line throughout the Middle East and North Africa market • Manage programs valued over $100M to build, launch, and operate Pelican satellites for Planet and strategic MENA customers • Coordinate cross-functional teams and resources to ensure delivered capabilities meet customer requirements and provide excellent imagery products • Ensure Pelican satellites delivered on orbit are healthy and productive and shepherd operations through the contract life • Establish plans, programs, and teams that maximize mission success • Coordinate with Mission Directors and peers in Space Systems, Software Engineering, and corporate functions to deconflict resources and balance timelines • Act as the directly responsible individual for overall program success • Serve as the primary bridge for regional contract execution, integrating cultural nuances and customer needs into execution strategy • Deliver program-level requirements while building customer credibility, relationships, and satisfaction • Align CxS programs with Pelican’s commercial, technical, and product roadmap and other product offerings • Represent assigned programs to senior leadership and the broader company • Execute CxS contracts through an integrated core team spanning engineering, operations, product, finance, and commercial functions • Assess and balance execution risk across engineering, launch, and operations • Represent Planet’s CxS business line to partners, customers, and the press as needed

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years experience in space systems development, management and/or operations; aerospace and tech experience on programs of sufficient size and scope will also be considered • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field • Fluent in Arabic and professional working proficiency in English • Deep expertise in LEO satellite operations, satellite design, and what is required to deliver mission success • Knowledge about tasking business models and remote sensing technology • Ability to operate effectively and decisively in an information rich environment with minimal guidance and extended autonomy • Ability to make decisions aligned with Planet’s technical and strategic roadmap and core values • Willingness to hold ambiguity and risk and make decisions that bring clarity to executing teams • Excellent interpersonal skills • Ability to travel within the Middle East as needed and to California or Germany 2–3 times per year • Ability to maintain availability to Pacific and Europe time zones for scheduled meetings and supplement real-time collaboration with asynchronous coordination skills • Success in developing, managing, or operating large satellite constellations • Expertise in leading and delivering major corporate initiatives through cross-departmental teams • Examples of proactively managing and mitigating program risk for space programs • Ability to access applicable U.S. and German/EU export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required
