📋 Description

• Execute design projects from start to finish in compliance with industry and company standard practices and procedures • Provide technical and sales support to design complex and large power systems, relay upgrades and modifications, and life-extension projects • Complete power systems studies including arc flash studies, short circuit analysis, load flow analysis, and grounding and lightning protection studies • Medium and low voltage electrical design for outdoor substations, unit substations, power transformers, protection and control schemes, power monitoring, circuit breaker replacements, relay replacements, brownfield and greenfield EPC projects • Develop specifications for medium and low voltage electrical equipment • Work with CAD staff to develop and/or update client electrical drawings including one lines, wiring diagrams, and schematics • Review field data and perform coordination, short circuit, and arc flash studies • Review power monitoring data to provide customer recommendations • Act as a representative of Qualus to support sales in customer site walks • Lead interaction with other functions and locations to determine optimum solutions • Remain current on all safety and technical training and adhere to company, industry and client safety protocols and standards • Assess project specific resource needs and coordinate assignments with project manager • Support immediate supervisor on planning and organizing workload • Coordinate proper project hand-off between sales and operations/engineering and participate in project kickoff meetings to discuss scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety requirements • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing by providing required paperwork (Service Acknowledgement Forms, weekly time keeping, change order documentation, test reports) • Consult and coordinate with suppliers to meet material and equipment needs • Travel up to 30% for training and visiting customer job sites

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related from an ABET accredited institution, preferred with a focus on power systems • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License preferred • 5+ years of design engineering experience on primary power distribution, P&C schemes, and/or electrical equipment • Experience developing relay protective setpoints and settings files • Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, ANSI C57, ANSI C37, and NESC, and other applicable codes and standards in the design of substations and industrial power distribution • 2-5 years of AutoCAD experience • 2-5 years using power systems modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, and/or EasyPower • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers • Ability to work independently, accurately, and with a high attention to detail • Up to 30% travel may be required for training and visiting customer job sites
