📋 Description

• Supporting acceptance testing / routine maintenance of Transmission and Distribution substation power equipment • Relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state and microprocessor), pilot channel equipment (power line carrier) • Testing of carrier set, tuning unit, wave trap, pilot wire, transfer trip, fiber optic, CT’s, CCVT's, line tuners, line traps, etc. • Controls and communications equipment testing • Verifying all metering (local and SCADA) • Calibrating all relays • Trip testing (local and SCADA) • Digital fault recorders (DFRs) and sequence of event recorders (SERs) • End-to-end line relay systems • Applying test procedures for various types of relay test equipment • Substation awareness and Safety consciousness • Aptitude to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment • Good PC skills and the ability to support testing activities as required by the project lead

🎯 Requirements

• Knowledge of 3 phase power systems • Power system protection & control schemes • Test equipment • Test equipment software • Field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout • Relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes preferred • Interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams • Basic test skills to perform duties listed above • Basic PC skills • Learn and apply client’s switching procedures and safety measures under direct supervision • Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors • Candidates must be able to perform physical activity such as pushing, pulling, lifting and bending in all types of weather extremes • Candidates must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. without assistance • Valid driver’s license and good driving record • Associate of Science in Electrical Technology (AET) or equivalent specialized training in system protection for a Relay Technician title • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology (BET) or bachelor's in science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required for a Relay Field Engineer title
