📋 Description

• Development, analysis, and specification of membranes and CCMs for use in PEM electrolysis cells, focusing on mechanical properties. • Execution and further development of characterization methods. • Planning and execution of experimental test series, mechanical simulation, data evaluation, and derivation of actionable recommendations. • Assessment of new membrane materials and collaboration with suppliers and research partners. • Support in material qualification for existing and new products. • Documentation of results, preparation of technical reports, and presentation within an interdisciplinary team. • Close collaboration with teams in stack development, quality, and production.

🎯 Requirements

• Successfully completed master’s degree or PhD in materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemical engineering or a related field. • Several years of experience in the characterization of polymers and composite materials, ideally in the field of fuel cells or water electrolysis. • Solid knowledge of ion-conducting polymers, ideally perfluorinated membranes. • Confident handling of mechanical analyses, including material behavior modeling or FEM-based approaches, supported by mechanical testing and validation methods. • Independent, structured working style and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of PEM electrolysis. • Good understanding of electrochemical systems, particularly PEM water electrolysis. • Very good written and spoken English skills; German language skills are nice to have.
