📋 Description

• Capture breaking UK and international news and trending topics • Monitor wires and social media • Conduct fast-turnaround interviews and desk research • Publish accurate, audience-focused digital breaking-news stories • Drive coverage while the main UK daytime team is offline • Enhance articles with relevant audio, video, and social embeds • Use approved AI tools to streamline content creation and optimisation • Work independently on a flexible shift rota

🎯 Requirements

• Proven digital newsroom experience • Strong editorial judgment and confidence making editorial decisions in a fast-moving environment • Strong UK geographical knowledge • Exceptional headline-writing, research, and fact-checking skills • Experience with digital publishing tools and CMS platforms • Basic video and social editing skills • Experience with data analytics • Ability to spot stories via social media • Ability to build quick rapport with phone sources • Must be currently based in Australia • Must have the right to work in Australia • Employer cannot provide sponsorship • Availability for a flexible shift rota, including weekends
