• Promote a safe and secure mining environment by developing and delivering safety training programs. • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and support injury prevention initiatives. • Analyze safety performance data and monitor incidents. • Oversee security and surveillance operations. • Maintain emergency response procedures to protect employees, assets, and business operations. • Establish and maintain consistent safety training standards across the mine site. • Audit, update, and improve safety training systems to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. • Conduct Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) training and support effective team performance. • Ensure emergency response teams are properly trained, prepared, and capable of responding to emergencies. • Develop and communicate enforcement strategies to ensure employees understand safety expectations and consequences of non-compliance. • Conduct workplace inspections and audits to evaluate safety performance and identify potential hazards. • Ensure all new employees receive comprehensive safety orientation and site-specific training. • Prepare, maintain, and review safety documentation, including accident, incident, and first-aid reports. • Investigate safety incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or a related field. • Professional safety certification or designation is required. • Valid First Aid certification. • Minimum of 3–5 years of safety and training management experience in a mining environment. • At least 1–2 years of supervisory experience. • Strong knowledge of mining health and safety regulations, legislation, and industry standards. • Experience developing and delivering safety training programs. • Experience with emergency preparedness and response planning. • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to remain calm and effective under pressure. • Ability to work in a fast-paced multicultural environment. • Willingness to work in both Brokopondo and Paramaribo on a rotational schedule of 14 days on duty followed by 7 days off. • A valid proof of good conduct (‘Bewijs van goedgedrag’) will be required upon selection.
