📋 Description

• Lead the engineering function within a long-standing partnership with a major U.S. investment manager • Own day-to-day operational and people leadership • Serve as the senior engineering point of contact for client stakeholders • Drive AI adoption across the engineering team • Lead individual contributors and team leads directly • Stay hands-on with delivery while the account leadership structure develops • Build trust through regular 1:1s, candid feedback, and development support • Handle compensation, disengagement, underperformance, burnout, departures, and retention risks • Manage client priorities and turn ambiguous requests into practical execution plans • Coordinate frontend, backend, DevOps, platform, and tooling workstreams • Clarify ownership, align dependencies, and bridge communication gaps • Partner with tech leads on architecture and trade-offs • Oversee hiring, onboarding, staffing, and resource planning • Keep engineers productive through client delays • Identify and resolve delivery, budget, and process breakdowns • Lead AI tooling, upskilling, and workflow design with measurable productivity and code-review outcomes • Translate delivery metrics, technical decisions, and AI gains into client value narratives • Keep the CTO informed of actions and rationale • Travel occasionally for client visits and company retreats

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years in software development • At least 5+ years leading engineering teams, including technical delivery leadership • Experience in an agency, consultancy, or client-embedded environment is ideal • Distributed team experience is a plus • Exceptional communication and mediation skills across written, async, live, and cross-cultural contexts • Proactive problem-solving ability across delivery, scope, budget, and process issues • Demonstrable hands-on fluency with AI as a working tool, including personally driving AI adoption with measurable outcomes • Technical fluency across modern architecture, SDLC, and common stacks such as React, Vue, Angular, Node.js, Python, Java, and C# • Experience coordinating multiple teams or workstreams in parallel • Strong stakeholder management on ambiguous or contentious topics • Experience with staffing, onboarding, interviewing, and resource planning • Strong commercial sensibility • Systems-thinking ability • Experience with internal developer platforms, MCP-style tooling, or prototype-to-production workflows is a plus • Must be based in Brazil; applicants from other countries will not be considered
