📋 Description

• Contribute production-quality Rust and, where needed, C++ code, tests, and documentation to the QtBridge Rust repository • Work on object-model, memory-safety, type-system, and macro-related issues • Help design and stabilize a public library API, including semver, breaking-change management, and deprecation policy • Contribute to structured threat analysis and security review of the Rust/C++ FFI surface • Keep the workspace green across Linux, MSVC, and macOS • Participate in Gerrit code reviews against the dev branch with a Qt maintainer • Keep Jira issues current • Communicate daily with the team via chat/email and attend a weekly sync call • Focus on the Qt Bridge for Rust library, enabling pure-Rust backends for Qt Quick/QML applications • No responsibility for changes to Qt itself, product management, roadmap/release ownership, end-user support, or community management

🎯 Requirements

• Senior-level Rust experience in production, including ownership/borrowing, Rc/RefCell/Weak, unsafe and aliasing rules, Pin, and lifetime-parameterised APIs • Rust ↔ C++ FFI experience, ideally with cxx • Experience designing safe Rust wrappers over C++ object lifetimes • Procedural macro development with syn, quote, and proc-macro2 • Experience designing and stabilizing public library APIs, including semver and deprecation practices • Cross-platform Rust build engineering using build.rs and linking native libraries on Linux, MSVC, and macOS • Strong testing and quality practices, including tests with every change, cargo fmt, clippy, documented safety arguments for unsafe code, and rustdoc on public APIs • Comfort with threat modelling and security review for systems-level, memory-unsafe-adjacent code • Working knowledge of Qt 6, including QObject, properties, signals/slots, QVariant/QMetaType, QML object ownership • Enough C++17 knowledge to read and modify the bridge's C++ layer • Comfortable with Gerrit-style, small-commit, review-heavy workflows • Professional written and spoken English • Technical interview of approximately 90 minutes • Nice to have: prior contributions to Qt, CXX-Qt, qmetaobject-rs, or similar binding projects • Nice to have: QML / Qt Quick application development experience • Nice to have: published crates on crates.io • Nice to have: familiarity with rcc, Qt resource handling, or QML debug/preview protocols • Nice to have: Async Rust with tokio integrated with a native event loop • Nice to have: existing Qt Account / Qt Contributor Licence Agreement already signed
