• Process and assess new post-treatment pet insurance claims through the internal claims portal • Complete final checks before claim approval • Review claim information, medical notes, medical history, treatment notes, treatment plans, invoices, and supporting documentation • Apply veterinary knowledge and clinical judgement to assess treatment appropriateness • Collect accurate information and documentation required for pet claims • Identify inaccurate, incomplete, missing, or inconsistent information and follow up where required • Identify policy exclusions and reasons claims may not be payable • Assess partial-payment decisions fairly and accurately • Recommend claims for payment in line with policies, procedures, regulations, delegated authority, and company standards • Provide veterinary and technical advice to the claims team • Assist with existing manual claims during system implementation • Maintain accurate claim records, assessment notes, documentation, and internal communications • Ensure prompt, accurate, and professional claims processing • Attend remote meetings, training sessions, and team discussions • Perform other position-level duties as required
• Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine is essential • 3–5 years’ experience in veterinary medicine, small animal veterinary practice, pet claims assessment, insurance claims, veterinary administration, animal health, or a similar role • Strong veterinary knowledge and experience treating animals • Strong understanding of animal conditions and ability to assess whether treatment aligns with diagnosis • Experience reading and interpreting medical notes, medical history, treatment notes, treatment plans, invoices, and veterinary documentation • Strong analytical skills to identify inaccurate, incomplete, inconsistent, or missing information • Ability to assess policy concerns, exclusions, or reasons why full payment may not be made • Strong judgement and attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to provide clear veterinary and technical advice • Experience using CRM systems or claims systems, or ability to learn new technology quickly • Proficiency in Microsoft Office • Strong time management skills • Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to accurate, fair, and efficient claim assessment • Ability to work remotely and attend weekly meetings as required
