📋 Description

• Design, build and ship end-to-end features from React/Next.js screens to Django, PHP or Magento back-end logic and APIs • Solve complex technical problems involving performance, integrations and difficult bugs • Write clean, tested and maintainable code • Review pull requests daily and provide constructive feedback • Set and maintain coding standards, branching rules and a clear definition of done • Work with QA to reduce production bugs and resolve critical issues quickly • Break features into tasks, estimate effort and plan sprints with the Product Manager • Support daily stand-ups, identify blockers and remove them • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, reviews and one-to-ones • Update stakeholders on progress, risks and trade-offs • Make and document architecture decisions • Improve CI/CD, monitoring and release processes with DevOps • Plan upgrades, reduce technical debt and maintain platform security • Lead a team of 8–12 engineers in a player-coach role

🎯 Requirements

• Strong, hands-on experience building production React/Next.js applications with hooks, TypeScript, server-side rendering and state management such as Redux Toolkit or Zustand • Back-end experience with at least one, ideally two, of Django/Python or PHP/Magento 2 • Experience with Django REST Framework, ORM, migrations and background jobs • Experience with Magento 2 custom modules, plugins and observers, checkout and catalogue customisation, and performance tuning • Experience designing REST or GraphQL APIs • Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, query optimisation and Redis caching • Experience writing and enforcing unit and integration tests • Experience conducting thorough, constructive code reviews • Knowledge of Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and cloud basics such as Azure or AWS • Knowledge of OWASP basics, secure handling of secrets and user data, and secure authentication • At least 2 years leading or mentoring a team, planning sprints and keeping delivery on track • 7–10 years of software development experience • At least 3 years as a tech lead or senior engineer guiding others • Proven record of shipping full-stack features to production • A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience • Clear written and spoken English • Comfortable working with teams across time zones
