📋 Description

• Own the accounting, financial administration, reporting, controls, and financial integrity of the client's personal finances, management company, and related real estate and business entities. • Work closely with the property management team on the financial and asset management aspects of the portfolio. • Establish reliable financial controls, reconciliations, reporting, and organizational checks and balances. • Maintain accounting records in QuickBooks, Quicken, Propertyware, and other accounting or financial systems. • Lead or substantially assist with migration from existing QuickBooks systems to a new accounting platform, including data migration, account mapping, testing, reconciliation, process redesign, and implementation support. • Maintain personal financial records and personal financial statements, including schedules for real estate, investments, loans, insurance, assets, and liabilities. • Manage financial administration for loans, renewals, lender requests, mortgages, insurance, investments, property taxes, tax returns and support, entity filings, and other financial obligations. • Partner with property management on CAM reconciliations, recovery calculations, tenant charges, accounts receivable, property operating results, budgets, variances, capital expenditures, rent rolls, and tenant ledgers. • Perform bank, credit card, mortgage, investment, and other account reconciliations. • Maintain financial statements, cash reports, management reports, schedules, and supporting workpapers. • Create and enforce controls around bill processing, payments, cash movement, and vendor activity. • Process bills and payments and independently review or reconcile property management payments. • Ensure transactions are assigned to the correct entity, property, GL account, and accounting period; maintain separation of entity bank accounts and document intercompany activity. • Manage payroll accounting, 401(k) administration, management fees, deposits, transfers, security deposit accounting, 1099s, tax support, and recurring accounting functions. • Coordinate with the client, CPAs, tax professionals, bankers, lenders, insurance professionals, Senior Property Manager, and other outside advisors.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong accounting and financial management experience, ideally in a Controller, Senior Accountant, Family Office, Real Estate Accounting, or similar role. • Hands-on experience managing accounting across multiple entities, properties, or related businesses. • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks; experience with Quicken and Propertyware is highly valuable. • Experience with accounting system migrations, implementations, or significant process improvements. • Strong understanding of reconciliations, financial statements, general ledger accounting, cash management, and financial controls. • Experience with real estate accounting and property-level financial reporting, including CAM reconciliations, tenant ledgers, rent rolls, operating results, budgets, and capital expenditures. • Experience managing financial administration involving loans, mortgages, insurance, investments, taxes, and other significant financial obligations. • Strong attention to detail and a high level of financial accuracy and integrity. • Ability to establish and maintain effective checks and balances and independently identify discrepancies or irregularities. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple financial responsibilities and deadlines across different entities. • Exceptional spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate financial matters clearly, accurately, and professionally with senior stakeholders and sophisticated third parties. • Comfortable working directly with business owners, CPAs, bankers, lenders, tax professionals, insurance professionals, and other external advisors. • Strong judgment, discretion, accountability, and ability to work independently. • Availability to work Pacific hours.
