VORTEX is an online atmospheric modeling service that provides high-precision modeled wind resource data and global wind estimates for onshore and offshore sites where measurements are unavailable. It runs on-demand non-linear WRF-based simulations (including a proprietary Vortex-LES implementation) on a supercomputer cluster to deliver measurement-like time series (including turbulence and 3-second gusts), virtual met mast outputs, regional maps, gridded time series, extreme-event analysis, icing probability, and short- to decadal-forecast products.
