📋 Description
• Manage the accounting cycle for assigned technical accounting areas, including investments, debt, leases, equity, inter-company, and revenue recognition. • Research and apply GAAP and local accounting guidance to complex, non-routine transactions. • Draft accounting policies and prepare technical memos for auditors. • Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of annual external financial statements in compliance with GAAP. • Collaborate with local finance teams to record transactions and implement efficient financial processes and internal controls. • Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies or variances in a timely manner. • Support audit and tax filing processes by providing documentation and liaising with auditors and the tax team. • Stay updated on industry trends, accounting principles, and regulatory changes, implementing best practices to optimize financial processes.
🎯 Requirements
• 5 years experience in accounting. • Financial Services industry experience operating in a multi-currency environment is a plus. • Demonstrable experience in leading an audit. • Strong grasp of the financial close process. • CPA or similar designation, or in the process of obtaining such designation. • Enthusiasm for learning new reporting tools, solving unique problems, and optimizing processes. • Ability to navigate ambiguity and find creative ways to solve problems. • Goal-oriented leadership and ability to work on a fast-moving small team as both an individual contributor and manager. • Passion for Wave's mission. • Candidates must be based in one of Wave's talent hub countries or operating markets in Africa, including Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, or Burkina Faso. • Resume in English and a cover letter are required for the application.
