Weave is building a generative AI platform and knowledge graph that will revolutionize how life science companies collaborate.

📋 Description

• Architect the foundational security and identity substrate for Weave products • Lead the transition from legacy authorization to a globally distributed IAM platform powered by SpiceDB and Go • Own authentication services for human and machine entities • Manage trade-offs between stateless scalability and real-time session revocation • Define fine-grained permission modeling, inheritance, and enforcement across multi-tenant organizations and locations • Own internal SDKs, gRPC contracts, and middleware for downstream engineers • Manage federated identity, including SSO and SCIM, and secure M2M communication protocols • Improve observability and MTTD/MTTR through monitoring and load-testing protocols • Own immutable, reliable audit logging pipelines and identity-data consistency • Establish the technical bar and operational culture for the India-based team • Ensure asynchronous collaboration with US-based team members • Report to the Manager of Engineering - Users Infrastructure

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience • Significant experience building distributed systems in Go • Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT mechanics • Proven ability to manage complex data migrations • Experience with distributed architecture • Experience building gRPC-based microservices • Exceptional written clarity • Ability to write Technical Design Documents (TPDs) • Experience as an early member of a distributed team • Experience building culture across time zones • Zero-Trust security mindset • Experience with Zanzibar-style authorization or SpiceDB • Experience shipping alerts, dashboards, and runbooks • Successful completion of a background check
