Zapay is a Brazilian fintech that helps vehicle owners consult and pay their vehicle-related debts by license plate. It offers a free online and mobile app that aggregates débito from 27 state DETRANs and other authorities, enabling users to view IPVA, licensing, fines and Dívida Ativa in a single screen and to pay or parcel those debts (up to 12x) via credit card, PIX or boleto. Zapay is accredited with national traffic authorities (DETRAN, DENATRAN, SENATRAN), issues CRLV digital in supported states, and provides both online and in-person payment channels and customer support.

📋 Description

• Influence and guide the platform's medium- and long-term architectural decisions • Define and evolve technical standards for services, infrastructure, observability, and CI/CD • Act as a guardian of technical quality, reducing complexity and technical debt • Work closely with Tech Leads, SREs, and Tech Managers to help disambiguate difficult decisions • Design and evolve shared platforms and services (infrastructure, pipelines, templates, SDKs, internal tools) • Ensure high reliability, scalability, and security of production systems • Be heavily involved in observability, troubleshooting, and critical incident response • Promote an excellent Developer Experience by improving build, deploy, testing, and operations workflows • Mentor engineers at different levels, raising the organization's technical standard • Translate business needs into elegant, incremental, and sustainable technical solutions • Make decisions driven by metrics, data, and real business impact

🎯 Requirements

• Strong experience as a senior / staff / principal engineer • Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript • Extensive experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems • Solid knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure) • Excellent expertise in observability, troubleshooting, and production systems • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) • Familiarity with CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code • Strong communication, influence, and mentoring skills • Ability to make complex technical decisions balancing business, engineering, and operations • Not required but a strong plus: • Hands-on experience with platform or SRE teams • Experience on large projects using Python • Experience with event-driven architectures • Knowledge and application of DDD, Clean Architecture, and Ports & Adapters • Experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives • Ability to explain complex technical decisions simply
