• Plan, design, and conduct user research that informs products, policy, content, and design • Lead complex or multi-stream research efforts informing program and contract strategy • Apply advanced qualitative and quantitative research methods to multifaceted research needs • Craft insights that shape product priorities and stakeholder alignment • Drive adoption of research findings across teams to influence roadmap decisions • Coach and mentor colleagues on user feedback, human behavior, research analysis, and actionable findings • Collaborate with policy subject-matter experts, designers, technology leads, developers, product managers, and data specialists • Influence strategic improvements to user experiences while prioritizing accessibility and scalability • Build connections across teams, projects, A1M, and clients to improve delivery • Identify risks and conflicts, manage up, and escalate when appropriate • Initiate and drive cross-disciplinary projects and provide information needed by other practices • Identify and respond to government requirements and policies affecting projects, including accessibility, PRA, FOIA, acquisition regulations, and security compliance • Represent A1M and project teams to government clients, including in challenging situations • Participate actively in client virtual meetings, including on camera
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience • Prior experience working in government or government consulting at the local, state, or federal level • Demonstrated critical thinking about research processes and outcomes • Well-crafted research deliverables, such as reports or presentations • Experience facilitating research synthesis activities and generating insights and intervention opportunities • Experience identifying opportunities to introduce change and scale successful research efforts within organizations • Must work from the United States, including any US state, the District of Columbia, or US territories • Must have been a resident in the United States for 3 of the past 5 years • Cannot reside in New York state • Must already have legal authorization to work in the US and not require ongoing visa sponsorship • Must be a permanent US resident • Must complete a Public Trust background investigation, including SF85 or SF85P as applicable and fingerprinting • Must be flexible with working hours to accommodate partners primarily working Eastern Standard Time • Active participation in client virtual meetings, including being on camera, is essential • Preferred: experience with social-impact product teams or civic tech • Preferred: experience with distributed, cross-functional teams • Preferred: personal experience with government health and human services programs • Preferred: working knowledge of Medicare, ACA, MACRA, Medicaid, or CHIP • Preferred: familiarity with SAFe and agile methodologies • Preferred: college degree in Psychology, Information Science, Graphic Design, or a related field
