• Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts • Build strong customer relationships and address customer needs • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations • Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls • Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships • Develop and execute call plans to optimize coverage and frequency for key customers • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates • Collaborate with specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, in-field teams, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry preferred, plus a high school diploma/GED required • Proven track record of sales success • Solid presentation skills • Ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and behavior • Ability to develop innovative solutions and business opportunities • Ability to influence others and serve as a credible role model and resource • Collaborative partnership skills in district and matrix teams • Documented leadership and support success at district, regional, or organizational levels • Ability to develop sales strategies from findings • Pharmaceutical commercial industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing • English proficiency verbally and in writing • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car/truck, or powered material-handling equipment • Valid driver’s license • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test • Must meet safe driving requirements
