📋 Description

• Serve as the attorney point of contact for injured workers with active workers’ compensation claims • Respond to and complete client call assignments routed through Actionstep within two business days • Prioritize urgent matters, including benefit stoppages, denied or delayed medical treatment, and imminent hearing or evaluation dates • Counsel clients on temporary disability payments, medical treatment authorizations, and utilization review denials • Prepare clients for QMEs, IMEs, depositions, and WCAB hearings • Answer questions about work restrictions, return to work, permanent disability ratings, and settlement processes • Explain workers’ compensation concepts and procedures in plain language • Address client concerns and de-escalate sensitive or emotionally charged conversations • Document client interactions, advice, and follow-up items in Actionstep • Escalate benefit disputes, deadline risks, and case concerns to handling attorneys or case managers • Collaborate with case managers, paralegals, and handling attorneys • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with ethical and professional responsibility standards

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school • Active member in good standing of the State Bar of California • Working knowledge of the California workers’ compensation system, including benefits, the medical-legal process, and WCAB procedures • Exceptional verbal communication skills with a warm, professional phone presence • Strong active listening skills • Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely • Empathy and patience when handling difficult conversations with injured workers • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to manage a steady volume of calls while meeting daily deadlines • Comfortable using case management software, phone systems, and standard office technology • Reliable home office setup with high-speed internet and a quiet, private workspace suitable for confidential calls • Experience in California workers’ compensation law is strongly preferred • Experience in a client-facing legal role is preferred • Prior experience in a high-volume, phone-based environment is highly desirable • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
