• Oversee and develop innovative special education services to meet diverse student needs and ensure quality and compliance • Contribute to the leadership team and help develop and train the school’s special education philosophy • Maintain special education student records and files according to state law and Department of Education guidelines • Develop policies, procedures, and changes for special education programs and compliance • Hold a reduced student caseload and maintain paperwork and service-time compliance • Maintain confidentiality of student information and professional matters • Work with teaching staff to improve standardized and proficiency testing results • Assist with hiring and oversee training of Special Education staff • Serve as point of contact for agencies and service providers; manage related contracts and agreements with the supervisor • Participate in ongoing professional training and provide resources for Special Education staff • Track and plan documented student accommodations for state and district testing with the Testing Manager • Collaborate with the State Reporting Coordinator to ensure Special Education data is accurately captured and reported • Participate in faculty meetings, open houses, commencement, student activities, professional learning communities, course-of-study preparation, and school problem-solving • Perform required student home visits • Serve as LEA/District Representative for special education meetings • Perform other assigned duties
• Bachelor’s Degree minimum; Master’s Degree preferred • Active Special Education License in Missouri • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Google applications, email, and internet applications • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data for educational decisions • Understanding of the RTI process • Understanding of state proficiency testing and state teaching standards • Satisfactory completion of required state criminal history check and health tests • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds • Genuine care for children and passion for teaching • Flexibility with decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties • Strong integrity and team-player attitude • Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting • Understanding of the community and student demographics
